Coaching facilitates the behavior change and lifestyle modification process. A Health Coach combines the science of fitness and weight management with the art of coaching. There are many facets to health coaching including nutrition education, personal training, time management, and psychology. Changing one’s lifestyle is a complicated and difficult journey. Together, we will create a strategic, powerful plan based on your core values and goals. You will gain clarity through a regular process including motivation, interaction, problem solving, and accountability. You are always in control of setting your own goals, but I will push you, challenge you, and support you to help you reach your goals faster than you could on your own. Developing the total person, body, mind, and spirit, is critical to your overall success and happiness.

Health Coaching - Free Introductory Session - Reaching Full Potential Coaching, Habit Change Coaching

This free 15 minute introductory session will give us an opportunity to meet each other and determine if we are a good fit. It is important for you to be comfortable with your coach so this provides an opportunity to learn a little more about me and ask me any questions you wish. We will also chat about your overall, end goal and what you wish to get out of the coaching sessions so I can provide a game plan and road map for moving forward.

By the end of the session, we will have a rough outline of the immediate process goals you want to work on to help you reach your ultimate end goal. We will explore your current situation, opportunities, and barriers and begin to develop strategies to overcome barriers. We will also identify one habit that you can begin developing immediately.

This is a starter pack for those who want to kick-start motivation and weed through conflicting health information. Get started on the right foot. You will receive a 10% discount from the regular rate.

This package consists of three 30 minute sessions. You will also have unlimited access to me between sessions to ask questions and improve accountability throughout the week. I will also review your food journal and goal log prior to each of our meetings.

We will set-up re-occurring weekly meetings. All sessions must be redeemed within 2 months.

About Me

About myself & my experience

My name is Darleen Barnard and I am a Certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer specializing in weight loss and behavior change. As a Health Coach, I partner with my clients to help them take control of their health and wellness. Together, we set goals around fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, and weight and then use habit strategies to achieve a healthier, balanced lifestyle that they can maintain for the rest of their lives. Unlike personal trainers or dieticians who primarily focus on one area, I use a holistic health coaching approach to total wellness. I have helped thousands of clients all over the world improve their overall health and wellness and I am excited to help you next!

My coaching method & approach

I first seek to understand the client's overall goal, whether it is weight loss, mindful eating, kicking a sugar habit, etc. I then work to understand their unique perspective and past experiences. Past success or failure is the number one predictor of future success; therefore, if a client has failed in the past at achieving their goal, they likely have some self-limiting beliefs or a fixed mindset that we need to work on. After years of working with clients as a personal trainer and now as a health coach, I have developed a unique coaching pyramid that uses a holistic approach to achieving health and wellness goals and it consists of 5 levels. At the base of the pyramid is mindset - or attitude and beliefs. The next level is habits - we become what we consistently do on a regular basis. The next level is nutrition - we are what we eat. The next level is our daily living activities - how much we move throughout the day. The top of the pyramid is exercise - time dedicated specifically to exercise. Nutritionists tend to focus on the 3rd level and Personal Trainers tend to focus on the 5th level, but as a Health Coach, I focus on all 5 to help my client achieve his/her goals.

Notes / Remarks

The National Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise are two of the top accrediting bodies in the United States. I had to pass challenging exams to demonstrate competency in all subject areas. I have been training and coaching since 2014.
